Colorado Off Highway Vehicle Coalition 12th Annual Workshop 

 

The Colorado Off-Highway Vehicle Coalition (COHVCO), in conjunction with National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council (NOHVCC), Colorado State Parks and Wildlife, the US Forest Service, and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will be holding an Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation Management Workshop.

 

When: June 21 - June 23, 2012

Early check-in begins at 4pm on Thursday followed by a welcome reception at 6pm. Check-in and breakfast begins at 7am on Friday; sessions begin at 8am and conclude at 5pm.  Saturday will feature field workshop sessions.

The cost of the workshop is $70 for all Friday and Saturday or $35 for either Friday only or Saturday only; plus a $2 processing fee.  The price includes: workshop handouts, continental breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and the Friday night banquet.  

 

Late fees will apply if registrations are received after June 15th.  Those rates will be $80 for Friday/Saturday or $45 for Saturday only; plus a $2 processing fee.  So register today!

 

As in the past, a limited number of scholarships are available. The scholarships will cover the cost of the workshop and the lodging. Scholarship requests must be received by May 22nd. If you receive a workshop scholarship and will be bringing your spouse, COHVCO will cover your registration fee and half of the lodging cost for two nights. The workshop will kick-off with a reception on Thursday, June 21st at the Glenwood Springs Community Center.  Early registration begins at 4pm followed by the reception at 6pm.  Hors D'oeuvers will be served. 

 

On Friday June 22nd, the workshop will consist of a classroom session including topics such as:

  • Updates of recent national and state land management rules and regulations
  • Implementation of the merger of CO Parks and Wildlife
  • Grant writing and administration
  • Partnership development
  • and more

 

The day will end with a banquet at the Glenwood Springs Community Center.

 

The second day will be devoted to field workshop session at Hubbard Mesa.  Participants will ride the trails with experts.  During the session, we will apply the information we learned in the classroom, seeing what has worked and what has not.

  

Stay through Sunday and ride the nearby trails on your own.

You will need to make your own reservations by using this link or you may call the hotel.  Ask for the COHVCO block to get the discounted room rates.  The discounted rooms are for checking in on 6/21 and checking out 6/23.  Additional nights depend upon hotel availability and may have a different room rate.
