MN Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation Management Workshop
NOHVCC is partnering with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to put on an OHV Recreation Management Workshop in the Bluff Country.
When: June 9 - June 11, 2011
Check-in and breakfast begins at 7am each day.
Sessions run until 5pm each day.

The cost of the workshop is $50 for all three days or $20 for Saturday only; plus a small processing fee. The price includes: workshop handouts, continental breakfasts, lunches, and snacks. Dinners will be on your own.

The workshop objectives are:
- To define Minnesota public land management, public recreation, and OHV recreation stakeholder issues
- To share the current status of state and local planning efforts
- To build a better understanding of laws and regulations governing the use of OHVs
- To improve education information and the distribution of educational materials to the OHV public
- To improve the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and adaptive management of sustainable OHV facilities, areas, trail, and trail systems in order to:
- Minimize impacts to natural and cultural resources
- Reduce conflict between recreation and other public land stakeholders
- Better meet the needs and desires of the OHV recreation public
- To improve working relationships between local and state land management agencies and the OHV community
The first day of the workshop will consist of a classroom session including topics such as:
- OHV demographics, riders' needs and desires
- Potential resource concerns for OHV trails
- Basic trail planning concepts
- Trail system planning
- and more
The second day will be a field day in which participants will walk potential trail areas with experts. During the day we will address topics such as: environmental concerns, trailhead planning, sound control, signing and maps, access control, maintenance, enforcement, etc.
We will also get a demonstration of the DNR ATV simulator, the Coalition of Recreational Trail Users (CRTU) educational trailer; plus an update on the Trail Ambassador program.
The third and final day will again be in the classroom. The sessions will include:
- Signing, mapping, and GPS
- Monitoring and evaluation
- Education resources
- Education and Enforcement
- The MN Grant in Aid program
- Others
